Biography Active, smart, and youthful but universal, J-Lie's music will definitely grab you by the ears, get you on your feet and have you rapping or singing along from the get go, yet has the staying power to stick in your head for a long time to come. That's the sound of J-Lie... This young MC is not your average artist - he is a lyricists, performer, and extraordinarily amazing songwriter for all genres. He is a Multi-coastal artist bringing you that flavor from New York and that West Coast Cali roots, along with that Down South swing.
Though it seems he's the most laid-back of his crew, J-Lie, 21, is arguably the most athletic. With his on-stage enthusiasm and alluring charm, J-Lie has been known to be the "ladies' man". As an 80s baby he was born in Queens, New York but as a young boy he moved across the country to Los Angeles, California. While growing up he gained amazing street smarts along with book smarts and a leadership attitude that lures people to attract their attention to him. Being biracial (half Black and half Korean) he had to overcome many hard obstacles throughout life. Midway finishing up high school J-Lie moved to Atlanta, Georgia. After playing 2 seasons of soccer on an athletic scholarship at Georgia Southern University, Justin had a life changing experience and decided to throw his full attention into his music career. Unique and relentless are only two words to specifically describe him and his west coast ambitions. Upon venturing into college he began to focus on developing a unique style of lyrics at the age of 16. J-Lie was in a group by the name of Empire and dropped an album "No Guilt In Life, No Fear In Death" early 2006. The group members had different views of where they wanted their future to be so they split up and J-Lie reunited his unbroken ties wit his original rap crew StreetSide. His influences lie within Tupac Shakur, Nas, DJ Quik, Eminem, & Andre 3000, to name a few. |
